Course Description:
This course of instruction offers an overview of common firearm types officers might encounter in the course of their duties. Revolvers, semi-automatic pistols, shotguns, semi-automatic rifles, lever action rifles and bolt action rifles are covered. Having identified common firearms, the follow on training meant to familiarize officers to be alert for and recognize improvised weapons. This course addresses improvised or unique firearms, edged weapons, impact weapons and tools used to escape custody.

Prerequisites:
There are no prerequisites for attending this program.
Course Objectives:
- Upon completion, the student officer will be able to identify the two primary types of revolver
- Upon completion, the student officer will be able to identify the three common types of semi-automatic pistol action
- Upon completion, the student officer will be able to identify the common characteristics of both pump and semi-automatic shotguns
- Upon completion, the student officer will be able to identify the common characteristics of bolt action rifles
- Upon completion, the student officer will be able to identify the common characteristics of lever action rifles
- Be able to articulate the primary safety protocol for handling unfamiliar firearms
About the Instructor

With over 35 years of operational experience and more than 30 years of instructional experience, Lt. Borelli has taught programs involving firearms, defensive tactics, officer survival, active shooter response and more to officers from all levels of government to include city, county, state, federal and military. He remains active in law enforcement, continually training and being trained to keep his skills up to date and sharp.
